Conrad's: The Domestic Airport's Best-Kept Secret

got stuck at domestic?
looking for a place to eat?
go to Conrad's.

conrad's has the best tawilis and sisig! plus great Pinoy food and other bar chows. priced higher than other casual dining places gerry's or dencio's but the food is good to share for groups of 4. and if you're a big fan of vespas. 2 are on display inside.
conrad's is yumminess now pass me the tawilis.

My Tastebuds got a kickin' at Sunrise Buckets

since my friends lei and rich were raving about this place, we just had to try it so we can feel na "in" din kami. tucked inside madison square in greenhills, you may mistake sunrise buckets for surf shop because of their look. by the looks of their menu it was buffalo wing heaven with a lot of flavors to choose from, from "Pinoy" to premium stuff like Jack Daniels. The downside is the menu looks small and cluttered and its kinda hard to make up your mind. We settled for the original and some barbecue fries. The wings aren't sold by the piece, but by weight so its a half-pounder, one pound, 2.5 lbs, etc. The prices aren't really affordable per se, but since its our first time we went for the 1 pound bucket (Php 295). By the way, there are plastic gloves you can wear if you don't like the smell of the wing on your fingers but mine still had the saucy smell afterwards.

The verdict? Powerful stuff. The buffalo wings had enough "hotness" and zing. They were good and delicious. I should've ordered beer with mine, instead of coke. The 8-piece 1-pounder won't be enough and you'll be craving for more. Not exactly Bon Chon, but man, these are hot wings done right.

These bucket guys have earned their wings, 4 out of 5 fingerlicks.
Next stop: wingman at the collective

Get Sum Dimsum at Wai Ying

Hmmm... a trip to binondo won't be complete without that authentic dimsum fix.
My top places are Wai ying, Ying ying, golden fortune, david's and president's teahouse. But if you want dimsum that won't cost an arm and a leg, you better head your butt to waiying. Located in benavides st. waiying fastfood is no frills type dimsum place. the menu consisting of favorites and then some are on a laminated menu with both friendly english and chinese. the siomai here is good, president's is better but for 55 (2012 price is now 70) per order who's complaining? my list of must-orders: roast duck noodle or rice at 120 bucks this is sulit. the roast duck is crunchy and done right. shrimp or asado cheung fan, a flat roll with shrimp or pork dipped in soy sauce, pork siomai,
steamed tofu, curry beef siomai (fried beef dumpling in curry sauce) and the radish cake. if you want rice toppings, there are modern favorites like lemon chicken, honey-baked rib, curry, and chicken with black mushroom (my favorite). and mind you they don't scrimp on rice so its better shared.

ps if you're a bit queasy about interiors wai ying might NOT be the place for you. the tables need to be replaced but i'm quite comfy with the light blue blah paint and interiors. so find the yum in dimsum at waiying!

Bistro Ravioli

I was impressed with the items on Bistro Ravioli's menu. Plus the brickfire over pizza alone looks worthy to try out. Here are some of the items we ordered, the prices were really affordable but I wasn't too impressed with the food.

The pizza was ok but the Diablo chicken wings' sauce is too sweet for my taste. And the ravioli wasn't much to rave about either. But you get what you pay for. This one is neither a hit or miss but good enough.
