Malaysia, the Taste of Asia

Malaysia is not just for shopping. It's a food paradise as well.

The magic of this place is at Jalan Alor. A long street of hawker stalls offering the best in Chinese and Malay food. The food is divine and it is cheap. The sights and sounds are a splendor to look at. You'd be lost and be tempted by the glorious smell of food being grilled, fried, stir-fried, pan-fried, steamed, etc. Each and every store has a story to tell and a dish to be tasted. Reminds me of the old esteros of Ongpin in Manila. Only this is cleaner and more authentic.

Can you imagine eating chili crab by the streets? How about a freshly-cooked char kwai teow? (Malay noodles) This is one of the sides of Malaysia that needs to a be experience. A gustatory delight you'll definitely savor.

Food Trippin' Malaysia

Went to Malaysia the first weekend of April.
Took Cebu Pacific, big mistake, the flight was delayed and everything's fucked up.
Well, what can you expect if you took the cheapest airline?
So I'm not doing it again. My back aches from a very turbulent flight, thank you Cebu Pacific.

Anyway I'll write another entry for Malaysia's travel tips.
Right now, let's talk about food. Coz I'm starvin'!

We stayed at the Royale Bintang, a few steps away from Malaysia's famous Jalan Alor.
Food street galore featuring the best of Malay and Chinese street food. Food trippin' in Jalan Alor is a must! You can get stuffed for as little as 6 ringgit! I even had breakfast here for three days straight!

So what can you find at Jalan Alor? Stalls and stalls specializing in one certain food. A stall for delicious sticks of barbecue chicken satay. More stalls for char kwai teow. Bakkutteh. Oyster cake. Noodles. and sumptuous eats. Then you have the roadside Chinese restos where you pay after your order has arrived. Great eats. Eye-popping choices. It's foodie paradise, cheap delicious and fast. You have to explore and taste them all.
