The Japanese Chococro at Saintmarc Cafe ****

Something delightful captured our attention across Tim Ho Wan at Mega Fashion Hall.
There outside was a glittering display of iced treats that signaled great stuff can be found here.

As we entered the coffee shop, the sweet buttery smell of freshly baked bread greeted us.
It was the Chococro, a chocolate croissant that originated in France and is perfected by the artisans from the Land of the Rising Sun. It was the specialty at this Japanese chain called St. Marc, offering rich, buttery croissant pastry with Ghana and Ecuadorian chocolate.

Chococro

As you get in line, there are pastry bins filled with the latest baked stuff. While the counter is a bit small, everything looked welcoming, from the pastries, to the coffee and the desserts. But there's just one line for that. I think there should be a separate line for those buying pastries.

A batch of freshly baked chococros were laid out in the bin as we tried to get one. It smelled delicious. We paired it with Vietnam coffee, which was powerful stuff to perk us to withstand the Edsa traffic after . Other signature items include the Hot Chocolate and the Matcha Coffee.

We enjoyed it so much here at St. Marc that we were here for 3 straight days and back again the week after. And of course, we were surprised to see the owner, Mr. Ben Chan even supervising his team during a busy Monday afternoon (it was a holiday) The chococro was one of the best-tasting pastries we have sunk our teeth in, the size was not too big and it was not too flaky. The chococro delivers as promised, the rich chocolate filling packs a wallop and the buttered croissant layers a party in the mouth. The limited edition strawberry daifuku was like eating strawberry yan yan. its strawberry cream mixed with their signature chocolate inside the croissant. The chococro so good, we were too happy to take some home.

Overall experience:
Great coffee and ambiance
The chococro was a revelation! (55 pesos only, 499 a dozen)
runs out fast.
Also try the Strawberry Daifuku croissant
The Strawberry Ice Dessert (it was average)
